Restoration Healthcare’s Memorial Day Holiday Schedule

Celebrated on the last Monday in May each year, Memorial Day is an opportunity for all Americans to remember those who died in active military service.

Such a solemn occasion prompts us to publish a schedule for our office for the days leading up to and including Memorial Day. That holiday schedule begins with an early closing on Friday to give our staff time to get ready for the long weekend.

Specific hours are:

  • Thursday, May 23, 2019: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Friday, May 24, 2019: 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. (closing early)
  • Saturday, May 25, 2019: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. (for IV services only)
  • Sunday, May 26, 2019: Closed
  • Monday, May 27, 2019: Closed in observation of Memorial Day
  • Tuesday, May 28, 2019: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. (open during normal hours)

And as a reminder to our patients that holidays are not a “get out of jail free” card for disreputable eating and drinking, we’ve listed some valuable tips below for your eating edification:

First, when it comes to holiday food shopping, consider stopping off at one of the healthier options that abound in Orange County — places like Mother’s Market, Whole Foods, or Bristol Farms. These stores offer healthy options from their prepared-foods section, and often present an abundance of gluten-free options.

And keep these holiday meal tips in mind while planning your Memorial Day activities:

  • Stay away from chips and processed meats. These traditional holiday staples feature oils that can boost weight gain and clog arteries. If potato chips are a must, try those offered by the Jackson’s Honest brand — that’s because unlike most others available today, the potato chips from this brand are cooked in organic coconut oil.
  • You can go ahead and enjoy a hamburger (if red meat is part of your approved meal plan) but forget about the bun with all of its processed chemicals and white flour. Even better, replace an all-beef patty with those offered by Beyond Burger or The Impossible Burger — both of which are made primarily from plant protein and taste as good if not better than the patty you’re already used to.
  • Always choose the steak or chicken over the hotdog. Or at the very least, purchase grass-fed and nitrate free meats and hotdogs.
  • Fill your plate with salads and vegetables and walk right past the pasta and potato salad!
  • If you see sauerkraut on the table, scoop it up. Sauerkraut is a great source for probiotics.
  • And very important — stay hydrated. If you drink alcohol, consider alternating each drink with an eight-ounce glass of water. And don’t be afraid to break open the electrolyte packets to help stay hydrated.

In the “planning ahead” category, if you find yourself running low on a specific medication and you need a new prescription called into your pharmacy, please contact our office before 2 p.m. on Friday. Or use our Patient Portal to make that request. You don’t want to be caught over the holiday without the medication you may need.
