Meet The Team: Michelle Villa, Wellness Director

By: Restoration Healthcare

When Michelle Villa joined Restoration Healthcare last year, she immediately immersed herself in working with patients as a trainer in order to help them learn functional movement patterns. As our practice grew, she took on more of a managerial role in the clinic and is now our new wellness director. To say she’s more than qualified would be an understatement.

Michelle graduated from nearby California State University, Fullerton in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science degree in kinesiology, which is also known as human kinetics. She then continued her education at the University of New Hampshire, receiving a master’s degree in kinesiology in 2014. Then, in 2015, Michelle was invited to present three poster sessions the prestigious American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Annual Meeting in San Diego.

Get to know Michelle:

Restoration Healthcare (RH): What did you do prior to founding to work for Restoration Healthcare?

Michelle Villa (MV): Prior to working at Restoration Healthcare, I was teaching an undergraduate course at Cal State Fullerton focused on measurement and statistics in kinesiology, Before that, I worked with older adults in the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program and Cardiac Prevention Program at the University of New Hampshire.

RH: What attracted you to start working at Restoration Healthcare?

MV: As someone who has studied the human body and seen the effects of diet and exercise on health, I have become a strong believer in the theory that our bodies want to be healthy. We just need to allow the opportunity to heal. That’s a primary objective for patients here at Restoration Healthcare. We believe if you optimize your body’s environment, healing will occur. That idea, put into practice, is what attracted me to Restoration Healthcare.

RH: When you’re not working, what do you like to do in your spare time?

Michelle: Actually, at this time, I am excited to say I am planning my wedding in my spare time. So far, we have a location locked in but that is about it.

RH: What’s one thing not many people know about you?

Michelle: I have a crazy interest in space and space travel. In fact, my master’s thesis focused on researching a type of exercise that can be used in microgravity environments (i.e. for astronauts in space).
